This panachey purple room is in the Hotel Estherea in Amsterdam. It says, come in and stay a sumptuous while. Lushly gorgeous carpets. Artisanal crystal chandeliers. Tropical aquarium à la Finding Nemo. Queenly and Quirky. Makes one yearn for high tea and clownfish.
Maria Flieger-Gruyters converted her home into a guesthouse and named it after her three daughters ~ Esther, Elly and Ria. Hotel Esthérea is in a row of beautiful historic buildings on the Singel, Amsterdam’s oldest major canal and an official Unesco World Heritage Site.
The place has its own unique character ~ Yin and Yang in harmony. When I’m far from home, I appreciate the little things ~ a cappuccino bar, the daily paper, a bathrobe and slippers. Oh, and plenty of ice ~ to chill a Purple Haze Martini or mellow out a screaming foot.

Love the decadence AND that Purple Haze martini!
It was served at the Emmys this year. See the recipe in my reply to scrappydo and check out her WordPress blog too.
Thank you, I will!
The part of me that is lured by these pictures is the part that could have been Upstairs in Upstairs/Downstairs or Downton Abby. Maybe in a former life I was! Beautiful Beautiful.

I think I will have to put this place on my wish list. It is lovely. Oh, and that Purple Haze martini is one I will have to try.
some happy memories from here aeons ago but minus the purple haze martinis (thanks for the recipe)- and the bruised feet.
I like the look of that purple haze martini!
I stayed here earlier this year – such a lovely hotel!
